Hi,I seem to be asking questions all the time, here's another one, after putting a proper belt on the lathe and dismantaling the motor to refix the fan,i noted that the oilers for the motor are at the bottom, the bearings are the sleeve type and i wondered how they get enough oil.

Hello Don,

Are you sure they are for oil? I only ask because the motor on my Myford has to be greased. It is old though, a Brook Gryphon.

hth, Peter.

Definatly oil

Don

Have you tried slacking the resilient mount clamps and turning the motor so that the oilers point upwards?

With the clamps slack, there should be no reason why you can't orientate the motor as you wish. Just make sure that the cable has enough slack when you do it.

Dave,I don't know what to say,i feel so stupid that I never thought of that.My only defence is that that is how the motor was when I bought the lathe and I thought thats how it was supposed to be,DOH :-[
Thank you. Don
