Test run #2 for the latest project, a tea-light powered oscillating engine with a 4mm bore and 8mm stroke, boiler capacity about 20ml. woohoo1 Runs quite happily for 5 or 10 mins at a time but should manage half an hour or so when bedded in. In this video it's running on a 'large' size tea-light (scented 'oily rag and brasso' flavour) but works fine on the standard size unperfumed variety... why the hell I'm telling you this I've no idea :big:

The appropriated chopping board will itself be chopped down to form the heat insulating barrier twixt boiler and stand. Need to make said stand and fit a sensible sized grub-screw to the flywheel.

Very cool Paul. Nice job!

Nice work Paul. You have a winning combination there. A neat miniature steam engine + a device that with the appropriate scented tea light will mask the noxious odors from the cutting oil in the machine shop :big:. SWMBO will approve mightily.

Cheers,
Phil

Got most of the stand sorted now (the chopping board is reduced to a mere heat insulating washer'), decided to give it some meths using a simple burner from a previous project as I'm getting fed up of cleaning off the soot from the candles already - runs like something off a shovel... but now I've got to make a matching burner ::)

You can always make one like this.

Hehe, I've made a few of those before too...
