I have a maxnc 15 closed loop and I am have a hard time with it. It seems that If I use bobcad the code that bobcad produces does not work with maxnc soft wear Its g code but the maxnc soft says not valid code I am new to cnc and bobcad and other then basic machine operations new to machining so I am show its me as usual

I've heard that in the past there have been a lot of variations in G code, with different companies doing their own custom incompatible tweaks to enhance their products...and to lock you into their system. You may be running into some of that.

This book http://www.amazon.com/dp/0831133473/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 is supposed to be pretty much the agreed-on standard, so you might get a copy and see if you can sort out what is incompatible in your setup. It's a tad expensive, but if you're going to get into CNC in a serious way it would probably be a good book to have.

i was reading about this just the other day.

i looked in my history but its limited to 3 listings per site so i looked and looked and still didn't find the %$#@**&$ thing.

anyway heres the low down as i remember it

either you need to put in a prefix to the Gcode for the board so it accepts the Gcode

or something else the board needs to accept the bobcad , its not a issue with other boards but that Maxnc was made for a fairly proprietary package
there waas talk of dongles for the software for it but sadly i forget the freeware package that you can load the presets needed into or whatever ( it works straight away)

(forum gods , dont throw stuff!!)

head over to the CNC forums for that one it is there theres quite a few posts on it by folks who know i'm just playing parrot and maybe not very well

cheers

I think what you want is a BobCAD 'post processor' for the MaxNC . I have no idea where to get one though.

For any one interested I found a couple of good sites that offer some insite to 1 cnc 2 cad/cam / gcode this first link is www.artofcnc.ca the lazy cam download is free that soft ware allows dfx format to be converted to g code from that site there are many others but i down loaded the d2ncv2.2.8 in this soft wear there is a wizard that has common parts we on this site can use such as connecting rods click on the rod and input your measurements and there you go connecting rod very cool, there are flywheels etc it seems like a dream come true. and lastly there is this site that's called cad/cam trainer its a forum like hmem and the talk there is cad/cam cnc they have solidworks autocad, rhino, bobcad, etc questions and answers very good and that is http://cadcamtrainer.com/links.html. hope some of you find the sites helpful.

Yep, a post processor may be needed to get it to work well. I can't believe there wouldn't be one for BobCAD though, its just a matter of finding it.

BTW, here is are another couple of resources you might find helpful:

http://www.cnccookbook.com/CCDictionary.htm This is a dictionary of (mostly) CNC terminology.

http://www.cnccookbook.com/CCCookbook.htm Those are my "cookbook" articles. They're not projects, they're tutorials. Lots of CNC stuff there too.

Cheers,

BW
