This is my first engine and my first attempt at machining anything. A lot harder than I anticipated and many mistakes were made, but thoroughly enjoyable! I did make a bit of a build log if you're interested : http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/f31/first-engine-build-flamelicker-18950/

Next post will be a video of it running, if I can work out how to post it.

I've really got the bug now and I'm already planning my next project (but it's top secret so no-one steals my idea :p).

Thanks for looking!

That's a great runner Cogsy, I love to watch these run. I looked at making a flame licker but was confident that it would bever run so I didn't;) What is the next challenge?

Well, as this one was supposed to be a gift for my dad, but I don't think I can part with it, I figure I'd better make another one for him. While I'm at it though, I thought I might use what I've learnt so far, and try and make a multi-cylinder flamelicker as well. Not exactly sure how many cylinders yet, but the plans in my head are looking good.

Here is someone else's multi-cylinder design: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyrWRBoC-2c&feature=plcp[/ame]

Thanks for that Jim, I haven't seen that video. At least I know it should work, but I have 1 or 2 design tweaks in mind that I'd like to try out. We'll see what happens. Worst case, I'll be able to salvage parts and make a couple more singles as gifts :).
