Hi all on HMEM

New to this type of forum.
I‘ve looked in as a guest a couple of times, and found it to be an exciting forum.
Which has once more, fired my enthusiasm to stop vegetating and get building?

Hobbies:-

Military Modelling 1/35th, 1/16th and sometimes 1/6th scale.

Scratch build R/c model boats 1/35th and 1/16th scale. Mainly WW2 Landing Craft.

Build R/c 1/16th & 1/6th scale Tanks and Vehicles.

Live steam Loco’s, still have the one I built in 1957. As my college project in the last couple of years of my apprenticeship.
It’s 3-½” gauge not fired it for around 7 years, but should still run ok.

We moved house 5 years ago, but health has slowed things down a little.

So the 1st project is sort out my workshop (garage), and shed.

Like everyone else I have many started models to finish.

Future modelling activity in the pipeline, but yet to start is a 5” gauge 4 2 2 Stirling single.

Non modelling hobbies are Shooting and Sea Fishing.

I’m Old and retired, anything more you wish to know please ask. ::)

Old and cranky retired....

..... you'll fit right in here - Welcome.

G_N_R - that name sounds remarkably familiar. Am I remembering it from articles published in Model Engineer?

Regardless, welcome aboard. I'm looking forward to hearing more about the Stirling locomotive.

Welcome to the forum G-N-R.
I'd love to see some pics of your 3 1/2" loco.
Well...pics of anything would be great. Love pics.

G-N-R, with all those models, you must have a pile of photos you can show us.
WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!!!!!

Hi all

Thanks for the very warm welcome guys.

Articles in the ME, unfortunately no, but I have had a couple of items in Model Boats & Marine Modelling years ago, nothing spectacular.

The Stirling Single! I made a start in 1987, cut out the main frames.
Then work got in the way, after a few years rusty metal, so scrapped them.
A second set started in 1999. Again work (always gets in the way).
But as with all of us, other hobbies sometimes take priority. Especially if Grandson’s have their way.
Our move in 2005! I think Harry Houdini did that for us, misplaced a lot of things, including the main frames.
2006 and to-date illness stepped in but things are improving.
So when the garage is set up as a workshop a third set will be stated and all the other started models hopefully will be completed.

The 3 ½” L B S Cs Tich. The one just about everyone has had a go at over the years, Amazingly 62 years after Curly serialised it in the ME. It’s still popular today.
I did have the privilege to meet Curly on numerous occasions.

Photos I do have some.

and I will take some more to post on the forum.

It’s great to play with all the other grownup children and their toys!

Hi all
Again thanks for the warm welcome, age and health has slowed me down a touch since I first posted.

Photo’s I have to scan them first then try to resize them to fit into a post.
I will keep trying or perhaps take some new ones with a more modern camera.
???(old dog new tricks).

Post again soon with photo’s I hope.

Hi all agin.
Just a thought, will I be able to post direct from Photobucket without resizing.

Hi GNR,is that Great Northen Railway,Welcome.
71 is not old I'm 72 and they treat me as if I am human on here, one thing worries me,I noticed I am a senior member now,I think that is related to my age :-\.My brother is 84 and still working on LBSC's Maisie 70% finished now.
Love to see pics of the Stirling 8ft single,I love that engine
You have met the great man,I hear he was a funny old boy,but has he done a lot for model engineering,he told it in plain language that anyone could understand.
