Thanks for the link, Had no idea the engine collection was going for sale. These engines are beautiful and well built. I had the pleasure of seeing most of them at Men, Metal, and Machines in 2005. It will be interesting to see what they bring for prices. Thanks again DON

I suspect there will be some relative "bargains" to be had given they are all being sold at the same time. Wonderful looking engines.

Hmm what is in a name the merlin is up to$3400 at this point and the offy is up to ten grand. I guess the offy is a better known engine in this part of the world. the turbine is only at $750.

the merlin has moved up $900 or so still 4 plus hours to go.

My wife and I were watching the end of this auction. it got exciting at the end.some of the engines doubled or tripled in price in the last few minutes.
a quick estimate the collection went for a total of about $125,000 for the 24 engines. IIRC the offy went for $10,300 and the Merlin went for about $6,000.

Hi there everyone. I bought three of the engines up for auction:

- The Hodgson 9 Cylinder Radial:

- The six-cylinder air-cooled boxer engine:

- The VW four-cylinder engine:

Never fear, these works of art are much appreciated and are in really good hands here at Pelican. I don't have much experience with these mini engines, but I've written several books on the larger ones (like this one: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0760310874/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20). I think these are so cool, we got the radial engine started and running today: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/709639-new-toy.html

Now, I just need to find a Torrington clutch setup in order to get these other two started (that's what Roger Butzen recommended to me).

Thanks!

-Wayne
