Draftsight decided a few months ago to not only to stop the free version but also disable any existing free versions at the end of 2019. I think they kept the decision out of the limelight until they had time to put a killer in an update. When it's purely paid for it will not make sense to casual users.
I know a few people on here use Draftsight and probably for the same reasons as me. Free, easy to use, not wanting to learn Fusion or similar, no requirement for 3D.
I tried to find the most suitable replacement. I downloaded and tried a few. If anyone is interested I can recommend nanocad as a suitable replacement. You need to register and use a software key sent by email but nothing onerous.
Just in case you haven't already done so you may want to make sure you have all your drawings saved outside of draftsight.

There is LibreCad....(https://librecad.org/) free and will run on any operating system. It's not my personal favorite, though.
I use "TurbocadLE" which is a free download of a very old version of Turbocad (and I do mean VERY old....circa 1995). It will run flawlessly on my Linux system, though, and I find it more intuitive than Autocad-like interfaces. Available from http://al-ki.com/turbocad-free-downloads/. They also list a free autocad clone called DoubleCadXT but it appears to be Windows only so I have not tried it.
Lately I have been doing design in 3D using Freecad. https://www.freecadweb.org/ . It's a bit buggy and 3D is a learning curve but it will turn the 3D design views into DXF files that my old Turbocad can read.
