Hi all,

Does anyone have any tips on how to debur a side port that is in the middle of a cylinder bore? For example an exhaust port in a 2-cycle cylinder? Hopefully someone has some neat tricks/tools/ideas.

Thanks!

very carefully? ;D Perhaps if you could post up a picture showing the situation you are faced with we could offer up some suggestions that you could employ.

If the ports are cut after lapping, I use an fine grit undersize Flex-Hone in the bore to knock off any major burrs, which with sharp tooling should be very small. I don't power it. I just use it like a round file sliding it up and down the bore over the port area for a few strokes. Then I use my finish lap to touch up the bore. Only takes a couple of strokes and will change the bore size an unmeasurable amount.

That makes sense, thanks Gail.

I have an urge to chamfer the edges so that piston rings don't have a tendency to catch the port edge. Maybe I worry to much :D
