Anyone ever machined a Corliss cylinder block from solid bar stock? I want to build a Corliss type model from scratch and I'm debating whether or not I should make castings or try and machine from solid metal.

I have made a start on a Corliss and the cylinder started off as a chunk of 12L14 round stock.

Making castings would give it a better look maybe, but in my opinion it is not required.

As mentioned, there are several builds of this engine on the other site.
