I just recently bought a mini-lathe (Sieg Super C3) and have been very satisfied with it. It cuts steel and 300 series SS very well for it's small size, and even carbon alloyed steels, but sometimes it vibrates a little. Since I do not need very high precision, this is not a big issue, but I was beginning to wonder, would some extra weight bolted on the feet of the machine stabilize it? I have a lot of junk steel plates lying around, thickest being 40mm, and I though I'd torch a nice 100kg platelet and bolt the machine right onto it. The bolts on the cast iron body are not that rigid and though I wonder if it would be any use afterall?

Just cant list all the things I have done to my 7x12 but I have enjoyed it all, If you want to view the mods, you can help yourself's down load the PDFs and look at the work that is possible on these magic little lathes ,
