Hello Everyone,
I generally hate dumb questions like this however I am looking for a beginner engine that will keep my interest.
Does anyone have one that was a favorite when they started?
I built a simple oscilating steam engine at high school which started my interest. Check the johntom website for a wide array of engines. Elmers engines are great. Choose an engine which suits your skill level and machinery abilities. What ever you choose keep us informed.

Not a dumb question at all. Read here http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/index.php?topic=9413.0
Lots of info to help someone starting out. There are lots of plan sets out there. pick a set of plans you feel comfortable with. keep in mind small engines say 1/4 bore need more pressure to run than a 3/8 or half inch bore.
double piston size and piston are is increased by a factor of 4.
the Mcabe runner is a nice starter. The LMS Oscillator also seems like and easy first engine.

Thanks Brock & Tin,
I'll have a look at some plans to see what may hold my interest with my limited abilities.
Full scale stuff is not a problem for me.
