I just ran across this website, and thought some here may be interested. Aluminum jig plate is a fine grain stress relieved cast plate, with the surface machined to a .005 tolerance. It supposedly has very good dimensional stability when machined. This place makes very large bearings from it, and sells these circular pieces as scrap. The prices look to be about one half to one third of the prices for jig plate at the online seller I use (Speedy metals).

We use mic-6 material where I work it is a cast aluminum and it is very stable but very gummy and soft.
It is more stable to stress but expansion rate is still the same as other aluminum material.
