A Question of Insert Interchangeability

Hi everyone,

If one had a lathe or milling tool that came with TNMG-322 inserts, would TNMM-322 inserts be usable in the tool?

What are the differences between TNMG and TNMM inserts?

Does anyone have a link to a guide or explanation of indexable insert sizing, grades, coatings etc?

There are so many variations that it can get very confusing. And to compound the confusion many manufactures have special designations for some of their own products.
