Economy Hit and Miss Model Engine.

Started on this over a year ago, but got put to the side while my attention was put toward the construction of my shop, a picture is in "The Shop" forum. Anyhow, I've managed to get my shop done, and now my second Economy is done too. Going to try to post a shortcut to the youtube video, hope...

    Not a model engine, BUT!!!

Been silent for a while, but alot of my time and energy has been consumed with a very large project, about 30'x50'x14' large. The inside is partitioned into two rooms, the garage is roughly 34'x28' with the big doors being 10'x10' and the machine shop area is about 14'x28' with a 8'x6' double...

Economy hit & miss engine is now complete.

Think it's now time to move to this neck of the woods. My engine is officially completed. The finishing touch was an ignition system from S/S Machine and Engineering. It was a tight fit getting the electronics and the batteries in the little space that was left after installing the gas tank...

    Finally got an arbor press

Enco, for the past three weeks, had been sending me e-mails offering free shipping for orders over $99. Well I took them up on it and got a #2 Palmgren arbor press. It's a rather nice unit and came with three punches, a ball nose, square and a point. Well worth the $140 and saved $30 in shipping...

    Economy build.

This is a project that's been on going for about a year now, I started posting up in the casting area but it may fit better down here now. Sorry, but there are but a few shots I did of "work in progress" but there are many others here that are far better teachers than I. Anyway this is what I've...

    Economy advice

Starting work on an Economy casting kit and was fishing for any tips, helpful hints, do's or don'ts, etc. that those of you may be willing to share. I've been working on the crankshaft, and so far so good. All that should be left to do on it is cutting the keyways. Next I thought I'd work on the...

What type of boring head do yaw have?

Been looking at boring heads and was looking for some input from YAW as in what brand of boring head you have and if you like it or wish you had went a different route. I'm looking at an Apt, Criterion and the Flynn in a 3" flavor with a 3/4" shank soas I might use it in the mill and the lathe...

Making an adaptor plate for my rotatory table.

Not much to brag about but thought that I would share. Decided to make an adaptor plate for the R.T. so to mount a 5c collet chuck. Took some 16mm plate I had stashed, did some cutting and some drilling and when the chuck comes in one day this week, hope the bolt hole measurments are correct.

Fixing an old three jaw puller.

Had this old proto puller with a badly worn screw. So what you think me did? The new screw has the point machined on and not the replaceable type. Also made the hex head 11/16 instead of 9/16. The nice sloping taper from the hex to the threads on the old one was nice, but things went in a...

    Two cylinder attempt.

Attempting to try my hand at a two banger following some of the same lines as my single cyl. "tee" engine. But bear with me as I started on this project about 3 years ago and finally making a go at finishing it. Anyway, I've got a start on the pistons by cutting the 3 year old blank in two...

    Turning a one piece crankshaft

With some time off this upcoming holiday, I would like to try my hand at turning a one piece crank. I'd like to try one from shaft stock as well as flat stock. So what kind of tips, tricks, and pointers can you pro's out there lend my way?

Replacement jaws on Skinner 3 jaw chuck.

In an earlier post about a 6" three jaw chuck, I've done all I can think about doing to get the lope out but replacing the the jaws. So how or what do I measure for new jaws. Or has someone here already went through this and have a part number? The chuck is a Skinner #K3906.

Anyone here add a DRO to a Bridgport?

Would like to add a DRO to my old Bridgeport, and would like to know what others are using and where it was purchased. The table on mine is 9"x32" and I think a x/y axis unit will be all I'll be looking for.

    Groove in machine vice jaws

On some of the milling machine vices I've looked at, there's a groove in one of the jaws. Might a dummy ask what's the use for the groove???

Replace or repair the gibbs on milling machine.

The gibbs are as far in as they will go. Pumping the table full of grease and snugging the the table stops down to get the slop out is getting old. Do I get new gibbs or do I try to reposition the gibb by cutting the back side of the gibb slot and adding a spacer to the adjuster screw?

What type of chuck should I get??

I've a SB heavy 10 that's in need of a new chuck, I think. I've not had this lathe but a month, so I'm still in the process of getting to know it. But I had noticed that it's a bit touchy to get items of 1" or less to turn with less than .005" runout, but I could spin and jiggle the work around...
