Does anybody have any experiance or knowhow, or even it it can be done, in connecting a RCEXL tacho to a TM-6 ignition circuit? Failing the before combination is there a small tacho on the market that would serve the purpose?
Thanking you in anticipation.

This may or may not meet your needs.
If you simply want to measure engine rpm this will do a fine job if you want need a tach mounted it will not.

With a little comparison shopping one can purchase a hand held laser tach shipped out of hong kong or possibly mainland china for likely under $20 USD. IIRC i paid like $13-$15 for mine shipping included something over a year ago.

these are great for checking engine rpm and spindle speeds on machines no contact no math.

I don't have any experience with the RCEXL tachometer but here is one alternative that I have been using for several years. They are marketed on EBAY for use with snowmobiles and other small engines.

I did a write up on using one some time ago. Here is a link to it and a link to a current ebay listing. Price and delivery varies widely so read the listings carefully.

Thank you Gentlemen for your Tacho options.

Gail, your proposal of the "clip on" device looks ideal for my application.
The plan is to attach it to the "control panel" on my 4 cylinder inline 4 stroke
[1/4 scale Cirrus]. The feature of engine running time is a bonus.

Thank you,
Bill. South Australia.
