I did a little lathe & milling job for a friend over the weekend on a piece of non-magnetic stainless. I was dreading it, having heard the horror stories about stainless & work-hardening.
I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. It turned beautifully with my little carbide insert lathe tools, flats were milled cleanly with a HSS endmill...even a homemade roundnosed HSS form tool worked great! It worked almost as nice as leaded steel.
Anybody know what specification SS it could be? I would like to get some and use it at times. It'd be nice not having to worry about rust and discoloration from handling.
