Most tool and machinery suppliers will have the music wire mentioned by Tel in rolls, here's an example;

In addition most hobby shops have it in 3 foot (1 meter) lengths, however I've found they have only four or five popular wire diameters in stock.

There is a difference between the music wire and wire used in electric guitars?
Some months ago, I bought a kit of cords for electric guitar, but it not good for making springs.
What about the strings to piano?
