Pyrometer?

The sticks work fine, but at 25 apiece, you quickly spend more than a pryrometer for a small range of temps.

Well the first best guess was Swiftly , temperature was 1675F just a bit over 900 C.

If you check with a welding supply, gas supplier, you may find them cheaper.
My local gas supply, has them for 12. each.
They are nice to have on hand for checking different temps.
