Extending the theme of BrianS post (and avoiding hi-jacking it) wondering if anyone is a recent convert to one of these systems. I have looked at Lincoln (for sale in Canada at Canadian (aka Crappy) Tire.

While I have oxy-gas these cut practically any metal (oxy-gas is steel only), are fast and can provide fine, detailed cuts

When I worked at the Fab shop we had a plasma cutter but for that coin I would buy a TIG inverter. I know different tool. If you are going to cut odd shapes in stainless you need one. Stainless is tough on saw blades .

I have a Lincoln Procut 25 that I bought new about 5 years ago. It works great, but I've literally used it about twice. I doubt it has 15 minutes total run time on it. To Tin's point, the money would have been better spent on a nice tig unit!

Hi Dunc. A couple of years ago i bought a 3 in one unit called a CT-416. It is a Tig welder arc welder and plasma cutter. I bought mine from crazysales.com.au for $629 but a google search will show these units available globally. I use it constantly as the plasma cut has a very fine clean kerf requiring minimal clean up. I have no trouble cutting 10 mm or even 1/2 inch metal. The TIG function produces perfect cosmetic welds on all metals. I have no connection with Crazysales but i highly reccomend this machine for everyday use. Im sure someone in your neck of the woods would have a CT416 at around the same price. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-...Cutter-TIG-MMA-Welder-220V-W0QQAdIdZ181612319 has one for $400.
Happy hunting
