hey,

A really neat book I just finished is Backward thinking by John Lamb, John was a bit of a pioneer in the Marine Diesel arena where most other engineers of the time were content working on steam due to it being relativly clean and safe by 1920 (ish) he decided to endure the first of the diesels and did well in his career.. the book is just short snippet stories of his adventures from his apprentice day's through to super intendent etc.
