I have a vertical mill (http://www.busybeetools.com/products/MILLING-M{47}C-MINI-DIGITAL-READOUT-MT3.html). It claims 2.5 inch face mill capacity (I have used only 1.5 inch to date) in the vertical mode.
Head can be rotated 90 degrees to create a pseudo-horizontal mill. Obviously, it would lack any support at the outer end of the cutter as in a true horizontal mill.
Given this, would using either a face or side & face cutter be advisable? Not looking to swing a big one (too much mass). Anyone have any thoughts?
Real far out but are there any ideas to build an outboard end support?
