Dear Friends,

I would like to know if I can to use the lapping compounds Timesaver with soft
lap (see attached) for lapping my cylinders.

Thanks Massimo.

Yes, I have used it for years and have found it to be as advertised. I purchased a "sampler" from McMaster-Carr that contained 8 tins, 4 for lapping hard metals and 4 for lapping soft metals. Grits ranging from coarse to very fine. Rick

Massimo,
Timesaver compounds will not charge a lap, and their abrasives break down quickly and quickly stop cutting just as their website indicates. They are primarily made for smoothing bearings and mechanisms. Because Timesaver compounds do not embed, their yellow compounds can be used on soft bearings. If you have to lap a bored cylinder (hard metal), Clover silicone carbide embedding abrasives will do the job much faster.

As I thought, Indeed I have purchased the Aluminum Oxide in three grits: 320-600-1000.

Thanks Massimo.
