Yup, that's a pretty good price. I highly suggest someone here snap it up before it's gone ! If I didn't already have a copy, I would be the new owner :D

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is so special about this book?

The book contains detailed photos and plans for dozens of very nice, small steam engines built from bar stock. The book is out of print and therefore something of a collector's item. The author, Elmer Verburg passed away several years ago. Prices have come down some, but I've seen copies of this book sell for more than $400.

I see that the book has now been sold... didn't think it would last long!

Thanks,
you never know the answer till you ask the question.

Yeah, all the engine plans have been available in the public domain for a while now. However, the book continues to enjoy considerable popularity. It is a nicely done book, all on high gloss, thick paper, excellent drawings and pictures. I sold my copy 6 or 8 months ago, but it was always a pleasure to pull out the book and thumb through the pages.

I don't think that "all the engine plans have been available in the public domain " is acurate. The plans are avalable, but I don't think they are Pubilic Domain, there is a set of yahoo sites which do have permision to have the plans:

PS there is a copy of the book out there somewhere that belongs to TSME

It is well marked, and if anyone comes accross it please contact me.
