The Odds and Ends engine calls for two gears. one 20 tooth 32P and one 40 tooth 32P. I've never done anything like cutting gears but the plans give very good instructions on how to do it so I gave it a try. I had to make a cutting tool and a gage for the cutter and two arbors, one for each gear. I made a practice gear first from aluminum.

this first photo shows the cutting of the practice gear, the cutter and arbor.

The cam for the exhaust valve is cut onto the back side of the larger gear.

Some may noticed the "space ship" light I've add to the mill and also the homebuilt table drive I made from a hospital bed motor.
Also the rough and ragged machining. I'll clean it up later.
Lots of new experiences (damn it's fun)

You're moving right along on this thing. When I built my odds n ends engine, it took me 6 or 7 years to finish it!
