the Keats Block reminded me of one I made from a Guy Lutard design. I think he called it a finger block. I used Class 40 Cast Iron and polished it.
It canbe used on the bench, in a vise, or clamped to a machine table. Dims. ~31/2x31/2x1. The pic. shows it holding the camshaft for my upshure twin.

This submittal probably belongs under the "tools" column.

Moved to the tools section. Admin

Very Nice! How did you get that finish?

Chuck;
finished with #600 then #1200 wet or dry and then the buffer wheel with 1000 lapping compound. I like the consistancy of the abrasives from Brownells.

Class 40 cast iron just naturally polishes nicely.
Because of its other qualities I use it for pistons, rings, @ sleeves.
here is a better view of the 'finger' block. I'll try to post pics of other tools made from Guy Lautards "bedside reader".
this posting is sounding commercial :-[

PS ADMIN, What happened to my Avatar? ???

That is a nice clamp.

Your avatar is on a URL, maybe something happened there. If you have it on your computer you can upload it direct.
