R/C engine reconditioning / where three hobbies meet

I have, like many of you guys a number of hobbies. Due to the economic state of the world, it is now becoming more and more difficult for most of us to maintain all our hobbies :( This is where three of my favourite hobbies meet: r/c cars and aeroplanes, computers and model engineering. First I...

    IC Piston Ring Material

Hi there guys! I did a quik search, but still need to ask my qeustion... I have an old ENYA .60 r/c engine that I would like to put back to life. This engine was given to me years ago, missing one of two piston rings, the carby and the muffler. This engine is no longer in production, so spares...

    Laminar Flow Needs CPR

So I finally assembled it... All the organs that (should) make a Laminar flow engine tic are there. First of all, thanks for advice in a previous topic that one shouldn't mount the engine permanently or finish everything off before running the engine... because it won't run... I'm still a long...

    I have to ask....

I am maybe the only one that don't know this, but someone please spell it out!! What does "SWMBO" mean?? Must be something about someone living with you that wastes precious money on useless things, rather than invest in good machinery ;D

I dug out my old Meccano set the other day with the in tension of cleaning it up for my son to play with. Actually my son is only one year old, so daddy will play with it in the meantime ;D ;D (easy to convince mommy to fork out some cash for toys if you can convince her that you want to buy it...

    First Flywheel

I need a few thoughts regarding flywheels. I'm busy with my Laminar Flow engine, and I started on the flywheel today. I am making a steel ring and I want to press a brass disc into it. How much interference will I need to make a TIGHT fit? (64mm ring ID) Also, I'm not sure how to fit the...

    Mill with Lathe

I am new to this model engineering thing, and already enjoy every moment! Cost of tooling (and machines) is a bit of a prohibiting factor for me at this stage. I have a small chinese lathe that seems surprisingly capable for what I use it for. My problem is that the milling machine I dream about...

    Piston Design

Hi there all! I'm having a go at building a Laminar Flow engine as a first project. I made the cylinder of high grade aluminium. Bore 24mm, total length 51mm. I'm making the piston of Vesconite, and aim for a 25mm stroke. What is a good length for the piston? Is there maybe a rule of thumb to...

    Graphite Piston

I'm busy investigating options for a first project, and I'm keen on builing something simple that will yield results without investing too much time and effort. I am looking at "A simple lamina flow engine" of witch I found info elsewhere in the forum...
