    Chuck Key

    Its not as bad as a chuck key but I got distracted 1 day while tightening the collet in my Bridgeport, left the wrench on the draw bar, and when I brought the quill down to check the depth of cut got whacked on the top of my head with a 3/4" X 7/8" double box end wrench, only did that once, OUCH.

    Terrible Day At Work!

    My great grandfather was a pick man his hands were so callused and hard he could not make a tight fist but he could grip a pick handle and 4 guys couldn't pull it out. He died from black lung not a good way to go.

    The only thing you have to remember, is the clapper box has to be tilted more than the compound (down feed) when cutting a dove tail.

    I personally would not have put so much packing in the clamps, now when you tighten the clamps you are bending the bolts. I would have put in about .010" then drilled and tapped, remove the clamps and relieve the surface where you had the packing, all but 1/8" on the outside edge this will give...

    small high speed dc motor

    If your driving a spindle with the motor and your not dead set on DC steal the motor out of a vacuum cleaner power head they are AC with a ton of torque then a simple rheostat to vary your speed and they run about 6,000 to 10,000 RPM. ;)

    Just looked at CDCO web site they have DRO's with glass scales , little more than $400.00
