Hi what make of engine would be a good starter kit to get. Either a stationary engine or a traction engine being looking at the markie traction engine but don't really want to spend €3000 on my first kit.

In your part of the world I suggest you take a look at the Stuart 10 H Horizontal mill engine or 10V the vertical cousin.
These both list for 73.50 GBP + VAT if applicable.
These are popular kits and there are web pages and books that give step by step instructions.
They also offer pre machined and pre assembled kit but a bit more money.

If you want a USA made Kit look at PM Research . They have some nice offerings.
they offer casting sets and some models pre machined not bad money cheaper than setting up a shop.

An there are lot of plans for bar stock engines to be had as well.

Thanks tin yes have being looking at the stuart engines might just go with one off them will give me a good idea of how they are built and a stepping stone to a scratch build
