On those old Hit and Miss engines. How was the wrist pin on the piston oiled? Did you just squirt some on it once in a while?

Thanks, Wes

You should have asked that question last Saturday and I could have shown you on that old 1917Hercules that I have sitting on the patio. There is a drip oiler up above the water hopper with a pipe that leads down to the cylinder. When the piston is at top dead center the skirt is actually past the lube pipe hole, so occasionally a little oil drips down on the connecting rod, which just happens to have a grove in that top side that runs up to a hole that leads to the wrist pin. Seems kind of haphazard but it works. It only needs a drop now and then.

I didn't think of it till just a bit ago:eek:)

Thanks, Wes
