About time I posted. I am an engineering teacher and get my senior students to make a little wobbler as an exercise in accuracy. As such I get to make one each year.
To add a little challenge to myself I designed and made a double acting one. Then I found this site. I have always been fascinated with steam engines and decided to make Gerry's Beam engine. I tried to convert the original imperial set of plans to metric but ended up getting imperial gear as that was easier in the end.
After taking most of the year and making everything except the nuts and bolts I got it to run on 10psi.
I have just finished the motor I found labeld as 'Pachasa motor.'
I made a wooden propeller for it but broke it as I was balancing it so I have attached a plastic one to provide some resistance.
I sill have work to get the finish up to the standard displayed by other members on this site but the students get inspired seeing these things come to life.
