Hi Folks,

Does anyone know where I can purchase mounted grinding stones with a 6mm or 1/4" shanks in the UK?

I have tried a google search but most of them come in sets of 5, in various shapes.

They are not quite what I require, I would prefer to be able to buy several 12mm in diameter or maybe slightly larger for internal grinding using a router.

So separately priced stones would be best.

I will be finish grinding mild steel.

Thanks for any help,

Arnak

Try a specialised engineering suppliers, the type that supply to toolrooms etc. Or a specialised abrasive supplier that sells polishing stones for use on injection dies.

Hi Folks,

Thanks for the replies.:D

I tried Ebay but couldn't find individual stones for some reason, I'll try again.

Specialised suppliers, yeah I'll try that but wouldn't you expect that to come up on a google search?

Specialised suppliers would not necessarily come up on a google search for a specific item, better to google "toolmakers supplies".

Router? Sounds like you want to turn these at high speed. Be careful - most of the mounted stones I have seen for sale are not safe at router speeds.

For internal grinding, why not buy internal grinding wheels. These can be mounted on an arbor with paper washers either side of the wheel. When I used to work for a living, this is what we used in the cylindrical grinder for internal grinding. You will have to find a specialised grinding wheel supplier.

Hi Paul,

That's a good idea thanks, I'll have a look around for those.:)
