What is the best way to make multiple passes with an endmill in a slot and have consistent edges? I had a 1/2 x 1/2 brass rod that i needed to make a notch in one corner. I needed the remaining material to be .06 on each edge. I needed to make multiple passes to get the correct depth, but i had a hard time getting each edge the same.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Do you have a picture of the results?

How did you line up on your work? How did you measure?

I'm not trying to sound rude, but a little more information would help diagnose the problem. How is the work in error?

Just guessing, but maybe you didn't have the vise square or the you weren't centered properly on your work.

Hi Mike;
Sorry to add more questions to what Kevin had, but maybe will help us to give a good answer;
Do you have some kind of device to find the edge of your work piece? Edge finder, or some such?
If you are having to move the mill table in two opposite directions, are you taking backlash into account?
Working to coordinates on the dials, or to a layout line?
