I have an old Acu-rite II DRO on an ancient B'port. Today it started acting funny at one end of the travel so, figuring it has some crud in it, I took it apart and discovered that there is a crack in the glass scale about 4" from the end and that is what was making it get confused. Since the scale is for a longer table than the one I have I might be able to shorten the whole thing up and all will be well. My questions are:
1) Anybody ever shorten a glass scale? It would have to be done while glued
into the aluminum mount which I'll also have to shorten.
2) In the event this adventure is not successful, any suggestions on a
replacement 2 axis DRO? Good or bad luck with any particular vendors?
Thanks,
Ed T
