You CAN find supprising deals on old American Made machines if you're
willing to do a little detective work.

I was a public auction to bid on a lathe last summer.
The lathe ended up selling for over my self imposed limit, but there was
also an old Bridgeport there. I did bid on it for awhile before the reality
of how would I move it sunk in.

It ended up selling for $900

Try checking Auction Zip.com
Enter your ZIP CODE and see what may be coming up in your area.

The machines I mentioned above were being offered from a defunct dairy farm.
Evidently that farmer didn't farm out his repair work.

Yeah, great site, I might plan my vacation days around that calender :big:

Attended an auction a couple of years ago, the morning of the auction they moved a large lathe (if I had to guess 20" X 6' +/-) with a car carrier, it fell off onto the side you work from, about a 4 1/2 foot fall, had a few broken controls, it sold for $12.00 :'(

That happens way too often , many times after its paid for and getting moved out the next day. Thats when you see all the bad stuff.

I really wish you hadn't posted that link. It has to be among the top 5 deadliest links I've ever clicked. Being an auction nut to begin with, I could be in real trouble with that site so easily at hand..LOL.

LOL

It CAN get you into trouble!
Last summer I was looking through a listing for an old farm auction.
There were a few little machines but farther down the listing
this picture showed up...

Probably to my favor, I had to work that Saturday mornings and couldn't
make it to the auction. :-\
