I was in line at Subway the other day at lunch time. The guy behind me was from the hardwood floor company up the hill from my company.

We had seen eachother there before, and we got talking as we stood in line.

I said...say, what do you guys do with your scrap wood?

We toss it ....we're looking into a mini power plant...but until then we toss it.

I showed him a picture of my steamboat.....that got things talking even more.

Before I knew it, I was dragged into the production area and told where to back in my truck....

A truck load of Kiln dried Hickory flooring scraps....er ah "Biomass" was mine for the taking. ;D

I would say "Keep the engine handy". I often carry my version of the Duclos "Huff 'n Puff" in my pocket when I go hobby shopping. When they ask, "What are you using the tool/metal/plastic/wood/etc. for?", I produce it and blow into the steam inlet. The improvement in customer service never ceases to amaze me.

I envision lots of pen/pencil sets and engine bases in that pile.
