Hello,

This post is by way of an adjunct to an earlier one on a similar topic. I thought I'd start a new thread as the chaps who previously wrote about high temperature RTV sealant (Hylomar, as it is generally known in the UK) did so some time ago.

An excellent high temperature gasket material is a substance called "Supagraf" in the UK and "Grafoil" in the US. It looks like standard gasket sheet but is made from something called exfoliated graphite. It has excellent resistance to an extremely wide range of chemicals. It can withstand a maximum temperature in the region of 2500 Celsius (4532 Fahrenheit). It can be cut using scissors to make a gasket of any shape required. To see this substance look at www.oakbray.co.uk. Its generally available in the US as well.

Incidentally, it may interest you to learn that Hylomar was invented by Rolls Royce as a jointing compound to seal Gas Turbine compressor casings.

Hope this is of some use to you.
