Hi all
It has been some time since I posted an update on the Decauville, but I have been slowly but surely progressing. It seems that sometimes it's two steps forward and one back.
The plans are a bit lacking and the fact that I descided to make her a coal fired engine isn't helping, to be honest I don't know if the coal fired option will work, time will tell. I borrowed the design from a chap by the name of Brian Wilson who published a book Steam trains in your garden, a good read by the way.
As can be seen in the photos all the running gear is done, valve events are good, the dome hides a filler plug, the cab is starting to take shape.
The boiler will eventually have a brass cladding, the fabricated chimney was a pain in the #@%&* but it doesn't look to bad.
Cheers for now
Mike.
