Bolt question

Can anyone tell me the approximate correlation between BA and Imperial sizes? Specifically the 8BA and 12BA. would the 8 be close to 2-56? I am working from a plan that jumps between metric and imperial.

12BA is tiny smaller than 00-90

8BA is a bit larger than 2-56 but close.
