Struggle with 1/8” dies

Haven't seen it mentioned in this thread, but I find the best way to start a die is to turn a short extension to the piece to be threaded with a diameter of the root diameter of the thread. This helps hold the die straight and square as it starts cutting the full-sized portion. The extension can then be turned or cut off.
