Recently I was lucky enough to find an excellent example of an early traction engine from Westinghouse almost hidden away in a barn. The engine itself is owned by Mr. Alan Schurman who has turned his property into a museum of sorts. In any case, at first I had wanted to model it in half scale, but after doing some research, the engine (its a ten horsepower unit) weighs under 10,000 pounds with water. This is small enough to be towed by a decently sized pickup truck, so why not replicate full size? As the project progresses, I will continue to post photographs on this thread.
