    Air Compressor Plans

I am looking for plans to make a 12vdc motor driven air compressor. The small tire inflators don't last very long. I was thinking if I made one it might last longer. Any ideas or suggestions?

Does it stay or does it go?

I have a 4" Craftsman Lathe and a Southbend 9" lathe. I've had the Craftsman since around 1982. I bought the SB in 2008. I recently came across a mill/drill Harbor Freight machine for about $500. The seller does not seem to be in a hurry and I could sell the Craftsman along with some other...

Another engine concept (I think this has been tried before)

I came across this in a car magazine. It looks like an interesting engine. I remember as a kid I would go to the garage with my dad and marvel at the Detriot Diesel engines. A roots blower working on a two stroke engine. EcoMotors has taken the idea a step further. Does it look like a candidate...

    Central Machine Model 33686

Someone is selling this drill/mill for $500. central machine model 33686 I read the recent post's on some other machines and this one seems large in comparison. I am wondering if it would work for this hobby or if it is too large? Is it considered a good model, accuracy, and so on?

    Microlux - opinions?

I came across this while looking for scale buildin model materials. http://www.micromark.com/MICROLUX-HIGH-PRECISION-HEAVY-DUTY-R8-MINIATURE-MILLING-MACHINE,9616.html I'm not in a position to buy one right now. Just planning for when I can. :)

    When is close enough?

I thought I knew how to center a part in a 4 jaw until now. I have centered a part in my 4 jaw chuck. It took me quite a while to get it centered due to the shape of the object (noted on a different thread). I am using a dial indicator that reads to .001 inch. I have it so that the needle now...

    Metric Taper Adapter Sleeve

I was not sure where to post my question. I have a taper at the end of a crankshaft that (if I did this right) I measured a change of 2mm in diameter over the length of 10mm. The large end is 22.5mm in diameter. I have a CTV clutch that has a taper of 1mm per 10mm length. The large end is 30mm...

Finding the tools after a move... - or - I'll have some cheese with my whine

We moved into our house almost a year ago. One anoying thing is that I am still unable to locate some of my tools. ??? Before we moved I knew where every thing was located. I had taken the job I have now and I was 900 miles away from the work of packing the items. My son took on the challenge...

World's First Air-Powered Car: Zero Emissions by Next Summer

Looks like an interesting project! ;D http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/news/preview-concept/4217016 I had heard that someone has done this in the states years ago. I thought the air motor (can it be called an engine?) was pretty interesting.

    Hi from South Carolina, USA

Hi everyone, I found your website the other day and spent much of the afternoon just looking at the tech tips. I have been away from really using a lathe since about 1982. It looks like I should have stayed with it as there is a lot to learn. I have had a Craftsman Lathe for years (I can't...
