Another engine concept (I think this has been tried before)

I came across this in a car magazine. It looks like an interesting engine. I remember as a kid I would go to the garage with my dad and marvel at the Detriot Diesel engines. A roots blower working on a two stroke engine. EcoMotors has taken the idea a step further. Does it look like a candidate for a model engine?
