    Air Compressor Plans

Thank you for the suggestions. What I am looking for is something portable that is powered off of 12VDC. So smaller size, can hook up to battery from jumper style clips (unless I can find something that can turn without blowing fuses on the power sockets), and won't wear out in a year like the...

    Air Compressor Plans

It looks interesting. I'm not sure my abilities are there yet. His one way check valves solve that problem for me. I have a weed wacker engine that I was thinking I could adapt to an air pump. I'd need some way to add oil to keep things from seizing up.

    Air Compressor Plans

I am looking for plans to make a 12vdc motor driven air compressor. The small tire inflators don't last very long. I was thinking if I made one it might last longer. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Clutch motor

Why not keep the clutch motor on the sewing machine. This is standard for that type of machine. Invest the money in a proper motor for the lathe. :)

    Shapers large or small?

I picked up an AMMCO 7" in boxes when I bought my Southbend. I've worked on it off an on again. I am trying to strip the paint off of it and then reassemble it. It's good to hear your opinions on the shaper. I am glad to have read it.

Does it stay or does it go?

I have a 4" Craftsman Lathe and a Southbend 9" lathe. I've had the Craftsman since around 1982. I bought the SB in 2008. I recently came across a mill/drill Harbor Freight machine for about $500. The seller does not seem to be in a hurry and I could sell the Craftsman along with some other...

    Extrusion Press

It looks realistic. The radius along with the sand blasted surface does make it look more like it came from a sand casting.

    Central Machine Model 33686

rcmadness, thanks for the question on the round post. I hadn't given it a thought. My last experience with a mill was with a bridgeport in high school. Bill, The fix looks simple enough. (I noted your comment on locating the upper attachments)

    Central Machine Model 33686

I am thinking of going to see it. It's about an hour away from where I live. Of course, for me, that is like taking a car for a test drive. I end up buying it.

Another engine concept (I think this has been tried before)

I came across this in a car magazine. It looks like an interesting engine. I remember as a kid I would go to the garage with my dad and marvel at the Detriot Diesel engines. A roots blower working on a two stroke engine. EcoMotors has taken the idea a step further. Does it look like a candidate...

    Central Machine Model 33686

Someone is selling this drill/mill for $500. central machine model 33686 I read the recent post's on some other machines and this one seems large in comparison. I am wondering if it would work for this hobby or if it is too large? Is it considered a good model, accuracy, and so on?

    Power hacksaw

I think you'll probably trade the smooth cut for speed. Of course if you are going to machine it the finish may not matter that much anyway. I recently picked up some unistrut (some of it is presently working as a tire rack). I wonder if I can make something similar.

Model building getting out of hand

That's incredible! When I was growing up there was an older boy in my neighborhood who had bought a basement size HO layout. I loved going to his house and just looking at everything. I always wanted to do something like that. Been to Carnegie to see the trains too.
