    Turbo jet engine

I have scavenged a second hand turbo and built a jet engine. Very easy to get spooling and runs well but I keep getting flame escaping past the exhaust turbine and then get flame out. It's a waste gated turbo specked to open the waste gate at 8 psi which I can't spool it enough to get to happen...

    Fly wheel calc

Is there a standard way of working out diameter and weight needed in a fly wheel.i have built a air motor that has standard valves for inlet and outlet and I know my outlet needs some modification to allow proper airflow but also thinking fly wheel may be to heavy or large or maybe not large...

    Air volume calc

Does anyone know how to work out the volume of air at 100 psi that has been allowed to expand back to 1 atmosphere.this is for a air engine I am trying to build. I don't want the air to have any pressure at the bottom of the stroke but also don't want the valves to close to soon and create a...

    Piston ring gap

Can someone explain why there needs to be a gap in rings .i always believed that they were a tight fit to prevent blowby/oil burning.also any thermal expansion should be equal between cylinder piston and rings otherwise as the motor warmed up compression would leak :hDe:

Does anyone know of a way to distort a cranks circular motion into a oscillating motion.I am thinking that if we decrease the up and down motion and increase the side motion we could increase torque and decrease cylinder volume
