It is with deep regret that I inform all members of this forum of the sudden passing of Jerry Howell on Saturday. I received this message from Mike Rehmus, editor of MEB, via another forum:

"Friends of Jerry,

I got news from my mom and sister yesterday afternoon that Dad passed away Sat at a Colorado Springs hospital. Apparently he had shortness of breath the last couple of days prior, and it got pretty bad late Sat morning. He died shortly after he arrived at the hospital."

Jerry will be known by most as a first class model engineer who supplied a great range of plans for hot air and IC engines. He was also one of nature's gentlemen and will be a sad loss among our community. Fortunately, his work will live on for us mere mortals.

Thanks for the post.
I wish I could say more.

Thank you Jerry for all your help over the years.

Maybe we will have another conversation at another Gears show somewhere else.

Dave:
The announcement of Jerry's passing was posted in the Plans section on Saturday 29 Aug 2009. My original thought was to move that thread here to the break room. Since Jerry was mostly known for his engine plans I decided it was enough on topic to leave in place.
For the sake of continuity would folks please continue post condolences etc in that thread. http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/index.php?topic=5947.0
