My version of J. Ridders Thermo Pulse Mobile

Hello,Ron. No,I never had it running. Seems like I'm not very talented in model engineering. I've tried two other engines, one steam, one stirling and both didn't run as well.:wall: I'm thinking about giving up this frustrating hobby. Seeing all those pieces of art that others build,my...

    Paddle Engine

Following with great interest.Great build Don. One question: Seems to me,or it looks like you riveted the more "solid parts" ,which carry the studs, to the sheet metal. Is it correct or are these parts soldered or brazed and the rivets are dummies? Great visual appearance anyway. Cheers,Ralph

    Myford ML7 oiling

Hello. Oiling my Myford is a mess anyway. It's one of the few disadvantages of my S7. Tried different oil guns but none seems to be optimal for lubricating the back gear bearings. Cheers,Ralph

    CCGT 0604 tips

Hello. No,over here the regular price is about 10€ each.Branded goods, like Iscaar or Sandvik are even more expensive. You can buy a lucky find at ebay for about 4€ each ,but that is very rare and often you have to order a bulk to get that price. Cheers,Ralph

    PM Research No. 1 Build

Hello,Brian. Congrats to your very nice engine. I always thought that one of the advantages of a model engine made from castings is the more authentic look. Bar stock is more or less smooth by nature and some model engineers I know are spending a good amount of time to bring it to a cast iron...

    Wear your protective gear

Hello. Glad to hear you will get well again. In nowadays I would never ride my bike without protective gear, the full set. A back protector is a must too,IMHO. When I was younger,I sometimes rode without wearing a leather jacket or at the beginning of my motorcycle years, when there was no helmet...

    Allen Wrenches

Hello. The name "Inbus",which is used for socket head cap screws in Germany as well,is the acronym for (In)nensechskantschraube (B)auer (u)nd (S)chaurte.Bauer und Schaurte is a company. The correct German name is Innensechskantschraube. Over the years the name "Inbusschlüssel" ("schlüssel"means...

Another little gem from the ARC team

Hello,John. Thank you for your advice. I prefere grease for my dead centers.I once made the experience that with oil,a center can anneal very fast. One day, while making a heavy cut in FCMS,the chips were blue and smoking,I've heard a squeaking and then the tip of the center was gone. All within a...

Another little gem from the ARC team

Hello. Thank You for that tip,Bogs. I've already got mine and it looks good. Shipping to Germany was fast and now I'm making a tang for it. When is it suitable to use a live center and when is a dead center better? To date I only have had the opportunity to use a dead half center to support...
