    Carbide tangentials for small lathes

I've bought boring bars, parting tools and numerous 1/2" shanked turning/facing tool sets from Banggood, the quality has been surprising good and the inserts are more than compressed dirt. The only downside to some people, is the delivery time, I've gotten packages in 6 days and others in 3-4...

    Carbide tangentials for small lathes

I've been reading this thread with great interest, I bought on of the tangential tools, from Australia, through the US rep, Village Press. After seeing rave reviews, in a few magazines and on some of the forums, it now sets unused in the bottom of the lathe tool drawer. I tried it with HSS and...

    Lathe Tooling

John, You posted on Shopfloortalk, a while back about the swing up threading tool I made using an AXA, QCTP block and a carbide insert threading tool from Grizzly Industrial. I had somewhat copied your design, I had seen it some where in the forums, it works great. Thanks for sharing that.

    Lathe Tooling

The Aloris 16 (I have one) is not a great, but is an expensive tool, while using cheap inserts (TPG/TPU 321/322), the finish quality is below average. You would be better off using tooling that uses CCMT inserts.

    Air source for milling operations

I did somewhat of a similar thing, I used a magnetic Cedarburg coolant base and the Line-Loc interlocking coolant lines, with a small regulator. I set it at just enough air flow to keep the chips moving away from the cutter. Attached is a picture of the unit, but not in use.

    ONE SHOT OILER

I put a one shot system on my 1938 Bridgeport milling machine, I bought the Enco pump, then made the orifices based on the size for the new milling machines. I threaded the elbow fitting and put an aluminum set screw in the fittings, the drilled the set screws to the needed sizes, then check the...

    Mill drawbar repair

I did mine last week, used a piece of 7/16"-20, B-7 hardened all-thread and pinned and then plugwelded a coupling nut to. Works perfectly, short one is for mill/drill and longer one is for the Jet mill.

    Machining a CDCO Tool Holder

I open them up all of the time for a customer, they run an AXA size tool posts on a paper machine, they hold slitting knives, that have 19 mm shanks. I done probably about 25 of them, they have them preset with new sharp knives, and can change them on the fly. I use a 1/2" 4 fl carbide end mill...

    Jib Crane On Milling Machine

This project is moving right along, much faster than I originally thought. With the jib modified and welded in lifting eye, all assembled, its time to consider the lifting device to pick up the RT and the chuck, when needed. I was looking for a small chain fall or small electric lift, then...

    Jib Crane On Milling Machine

I'm getting to the age (55 this month) that lifting a 10" rotary table and the 10" chuck up on the mill table is getting harder and harder everytime. After much searching, looking and even more procrastinating I started a jib crane to do the lifting. I made a mounting pad to go on the...
