I am currently working on a 1/2 scale Stovepipe Domestic. For the crankshaft I decided to use a piece of 1x2x12 303 stainless from Speedymetals. They spec that it has been Hot Rolled, Annealed & Pickled. After the rough machining it has warped quite a bit along the mains journals. Specs say stress relieving range is between 400° and 750°F. So what to do next. Shall I place it in the oven at 500 for 8 hours and slowly decrease the temp and straighten or just straighten in a hydraulic press. Any insight from someone who has worked with the stuff would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul
