Hi all;

Our forum being the international group that it is, I sometimes get mixed up on my terms.
Thanks to this place, I know things like "biccys", "squid", "happy chappy" and "ON YA", not to mention that it's okay to call another man "mate", (at least here on the forum).

So, today's questions of confusion;
When someone outside the U.S. says "gunmetal", it refers to a type of bronze, right?
And, "methylated spirits" are like denatured alcohol?

I've probably seen the answer to these two questions, but I seem to forget and re-learn everything I know in five year cycles. I guess the "gunmetal and spirits" cycle is upon me.

Methylated spirits are denatured ethanol. I don't know anything about gunmetal.

Gunmetal, also known as red brass in the United States,[1] is a type of bronze – an alloy of copper, tin, and zinc.[2] Originally used chiefly for making guns, gunmetal was superseded by steel. Gunmetal is resistant to corrosion from steam and salt water
