OK Here it is I'm sorry if this news isn't the news some may have wanted to hear. But there is a N.A.M.E.S.EXPO in 2011
The dates are April 30th to May 1st.
It will be at the Southgate Civic Center arena.
The flyer for this show will be available at this years shows.

As to what happened to the move to the Novi Center, a new management company took over and all verbal agreements were off. Plus they wanted $9.00 per day parking, due to the lower numbers of attendees compared to say a gun show.

Well it's time to start thinking of coming to the show this April, With everything going on in the world. Might be a good idea to put some extra away with gas and all.

Will be posting the fuel rules etc. shortly, along with any new info. :big:

There has been a slight change for vendors please note the info below:
If you would like to learn how to become a vendor at the 22nd Annual North American Model Engineering Exposition, please contact Jim Snider, at (419) 350-6223 or by e-mail: [email protected] for a vendor package. If you are dealing heavy weight items please let him know so you can be placed in the main area, easier to get in and out

We will be only in the one side as last year, due to the economy etc. as the cost of prepping the other rink would have been prohibitive.

About the only difference is the ones in charge of the vendors sales, are trying to have all the people with the heavy iron in the main arena area, and not in the small rooms!

Remember ALL EXHIBITORS are not allowed to sell at their display whether it is the items on display or by displaying a sign with items on it! There are NO SALES by EXHIBITORS! And parties that break the rule will be escorted from the show.
Hope this will answer the email questions.

Glen, will you be wearing your tall black hat this year?

I'm looking forward to the show as usual.

Thanks for all the effort you and your group put into the NAMES Expo.

Regards,

Chuck

Yes, Chuck I will and here is the info, for anybody that is local to the show area, we will be starting setup on Tuesday around 9 am till show opening each day. Any and all help would be appreciated.:D

Steve glad to hear that work is moving along and that it is heavy. Looking forward to seeing the labor over the year!

Hopefully we will have a good turn out and a great show!

Will anyone be handing out or making their own "My name is_____ on HMEM" name tags?

Look for Steve at the groups he belongs too table. last year most of the forums got together at a certain time for a group photo. as far as name tags. Mine wioll again this year be my Top hat!

There is a slight chance I may drive up Friday.
If I make it up there, is there anywhere I can put some engines?

I have not had time to make any arrangements as an exhibitor.

Pat J

Just walk in and ask for some help. They will find you a table based on your needs (air, electric, ect) and start setting up.

Set up is Friday, only vendors need to pre register. Since all the tables are rentals. We need to know the number each vendors will be renting.

Again CONTRARY TO SOMEBODY PUTTING OUT THE RUMOR! THERE IS NO RESERVED TABLE SPACE FOR SINGLE EXHIBITORS!!!!!!!!!

We do generally have large clubs, that have people get there and set up club displays or that have special needs. make some pre arrangements.

We have had people come in as late as Saturday morning and have found them space.
;D

Hi Glen!

I don't think there are any rumors floating around. It's just that people who are new to the show don't know how to exibit and there is no information pertaining to exibiting on the web site. The only way to find out is to ask on forums and they may get mis-informed by a few. I have been telling people to show up Friday or later and ask someone for help.

I believe I saw a change for this year in the material that was mailed out. Exhibitors must register before setting up on Friday and registration begins at 9 AM, on Friday. I have no problem with the change, but if this is incorrect, please let me know.

Looking forward to the show!

Regards,

Chuck

There has always been registration on Fridays some as always, Might have pushed it up to the top this year. As the usual suspects still are emailing and complaining about the move. And that people get special treatment. In the past they set up(staked their place out then registered )

Steve it's not a problem, I have gotten the usual crap BS emails from the usual suspects like every year, and they seem to like spreading it at the tractor/engine model shows. were the users names don't match.

As always we will have the cards for people to put their constructive suggestions on and the Board of Directors reads them all. :big:

Looks like Saturday will be the "meet the HMEMers" and Sunday will be dragging around the 2 1/2yo grandson. Looking forward to it!

We have laid out the show and started on doing the set ups. The tables and chairs will be delivered 7:30 am Tuesday

For those that are going to come south on I-75 to the Show beware that the exit to Northline rd. is closed You have to go one south to the next exit at Eureka road. The North bound entrance to I-75 at Northline road is closed you have to use the one at Eureka rd.

Also for any that would be using Eastbound to go home Saturday or Sunday I-94 Eastbound will be closed from 10pm Friday till 5am Monday starting at I-696

I'm working on trying to get a live video feed from the show. There is a 12 foot pole in our setup that would be the perfect place for a camera. If I get this thing to work i'll post the link to the MDMC website so it can be viewed from anywhere in the world.
